The Council of Free Cities writes politely, urgently, and three sizes too small: a dungeon in the old quarry, level ten orcs, the small town of Freiheit asking for aid. They send a matriarch to pull weeds.

You are Finster. The Nachtguss gleams on your shoulders, Eisklang sings at your hip, and you closed this contract before you opened it.

Except the orcs in the quarry aren't taking plunder. They're taking the dead. Eighteen this year.
